As of 01:40 GMT April 6 there was 10,180 active cases of COVID-19 throughout the 10 Asean member countries, an increase of 454, or 4.56 per cent, on the day prior. Of this 155, or 1.2 per cent, are classified as serious or critical. An additional 226 were discharged and sent home after successful treatment.
In the past 24 hours the Philippines reported the most number of COVID-19 fatalities, with eight deaths there taking the tally to 152. Active cases rose to 3,246 with the finding of 152 fresh infections, while seven people were discharged following treatment.
In Indonesia seven deaths brought the total number of COVID-19 fatalities there to 198, while 181 new cases saw the active caseload rise to 1,911, with 14 patients being discharged after recovery.
In Malaysia 179 new cases and four deaths brought the number of active cases there to 2,596, 99 of who are classified as serious or critical, and deaths to 61. Ninety people were discharged after recovering.
Thailand recorded three COVID-19 deaths and 102 new cases over the past 24 hours to see the tally there rise to 23 deaths. However, due to the discharge of 119 recovered patients the total caseload fell to 1,353, 20 fewer than the day prior.
In Singapore yesterday 120 new cases saw active COVID-19 infections there rise to 983, of which 25 are regarded as serious or critical, while 23 people were sent home from hospital.
Vietnam and Laos PDR both reported one fresh infection each, driving active infections in the former to 151, three of which are classified as serious or critical, and 11 in the latter.
Myanmar, Brunei, and Cambodia reported no new COVID-19 infections in the period, with seven patients in Brunei going home after treatment.
Since the first Asean case was identified in Thailand on January 12 there has been 13,181 confirmed cases of COVID-19 recorded in Asean member countries with 2,559 people, or about 19.41 per cent of all infections, having been treated and discharged.
There has been 442 COVID-19 deaths in Asean member countries, representing a case mortality rate based on completed cases (number of discharged + number of dead) of 14.73 per cent. As of today, April 6, some 78.15 per cent of all confirmed COVID-19 infections in Asean remain active.

In the 24-hours to 01:40 GMT April 6 the number of new cases of COVID-19 globally rose 5.95 per cent day-on-day (DoD) to 1,272,983 an increase of 71,500.
The number of deaths globally attributed to COVID-19 in the past 24-hours increased by 7.32 per cent DoD to 69,428, an increase of 4,738, the majority (1,165) in the USA. China reported 30 new infections and three deaths during the period. Officially, there has been 3,329 deaths in China and 81,669 cases of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the number of people treated and discharged globally rose by 15,697 , or 6.36 per cent over the day prior to 262,331.
At the current rate there will be/ have been more than 1.9 million infections and 113,000 deaths by Easter Sunday, April 12.

As of 01:40 GMT April 6 there was 941,224 active cases of COVID-19 globally, of which some 4.84 per cent, or 45,589 cases are classified as serious or critical.
Based on completed cases (number of discharged + number of dead), the current case mortality rate (CMR) is 21 per cent. On March 15 the CMR was eight per cent.
