With More than 2,600 members representing over 600 American, Thai, and other international companies, the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (AMCHAM Thailand) is one of the country’s largest and most active business associations. Its Business Leaders 2022 Strategy meeting last month only served to highlight exactly how busy 2022 is going to be.
Held to provide the opportunity for leadership to collaborate on the upcoming year’s government relations and programming of activities, the meeting also set the strategic goals and direction for the chamber for the year ahead.
In 2022 AMCHAM Thailand will host more than 200 events, including speaker presentations, networking opportunities, and team building events, with about a half of these hosted online and free for members.
The group also plans to facilitate more than 50 working group meetings for members to collaborate on key issues affecting the business community and to prioritise policy recommendations in fields such as customs and excise updates, tourism, healthcare, aerospace, automotive, sustainability, and general government affairs.
The international business association also plans to host some 20 Business Today video conferences and 11 Insight Exchanges for members to connect online with their peers.
The AMCHAM Thailand Business Today conferences will continue to keep members informed on latest news and cabinet resolutions and provide a platform to exchange information and resources on how businesses navigate through the challenges and opportunities in 2022.
Meanwhile, AMCHAM Thailand Insight Exchange will allow members to build business connections, brainstorm solutions, and identify new business opportunities.
AMCHAM Thailand CSR Excellence Awards
Towards the end of the year the AMCHAM Thailand CSR Excellence Awards will be held to award more than 100 member companies a certificate of excellence for their CSR activities. See here for a large selection of video entries from previous years for the AMCHAM Thailand People’s Choice Awards, with most videos being under three minutes in length.
AMCHAM Thailand will also hold a number of fundraising events, in addition to Gala Dinners, and two golf tournaments, to support the AMCHAM Thailand Foundation’s (ATF) 2022 goal of providing scholarships to 75 deserving Thai university students.
For younger members the AMCHAM Thailand Young Professional events and the AMCHAM Thailand Academy for rising leaders will provide opportunities to young professionals to develop a personal network and grow professionally.
The AMCHAM Thailand Women Committee will focus on capacity building with an aim to influence gender equality, and deliver programmes on empowering women leaders with events such as the Women on Board discussion series.
While all of this is happening the Government Affairs Strategy for 2022 will continue to prioritise some of the Ten for Thailand initiatives from previous years focusing on improving the ease of doing business.
The group will also offer members virtual and in person opportunities to meet members of the Government and to hear their priorities directly. All in all, a pretty full year.
AMCHAM Thailand member companies have cumulatively invested over US$50 billion in the Kingdom and provide more than 200,000 local jobs.
