South Korea pledges more support for Laos
President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea told Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith in Singapore this week that Korea will extend further support and assistance to Laos, the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Banana exports from Laos to China fell by 184.04% this year
The value of banana exports from Laos to China increased tenfold in the last few years, and has already become one of the most valuable export industries in Laos. However, data from the Department of Labor and Commerce in Laos shows that China only imported 30 million USD worth of commercial products from Bokeo Province in the first 9 months of 2018.

Germany provides funding support for small businesses
The German government has agreed to give six million euros for the second tranche of the Lao Access to Finance Fund (LAFF) through the German Development Bank (KfW) for micro and small enterprises in Laos.

The government of the Republic of Korea has donated KRW 282 million (approximately US$249,329) to fund medical treatment of children with heart problems in flood-hit areas in the southern province of Attapeu.

Thailand may reinstate land border entry for expats in Lao
Laos’ near neighbour is reportedly considering removing the restrictions on land border entry affecting foreign expatriates in neighbouring countries including Laos for an initial period of two months, both The Nation and Bangkok Post reported on November 14.

“Vietnam-Laos Special Friendship” Day to be held in Dien Bien
The “Vietnam-Laos Special Friendship” Festive Day will be held on December 4-5 in Dien Bien city, northern Dien Bien province, with the aim of promoting images of a renovated Vietnam and the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

The famous 400-year-old tea plantation is located about 18 kilometers from Phongsaly Town in the Phunoy ethnic village Ban Komaen, which according to same tea experts has some of the oldest tea trees in the world.
