00:42 | Air Marshal Pakdee Saeng-xuto has conferred royal gifts on the rocker ‘Toon Bodyslam’ for his fundraising run, “Step by Step for 11 Hospitals across the Country”, on behalf of King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun. The entertainer has so far run 572 kilometers (about 355 miles) and raised more than Bt230 million (about US$6.97 million). He has another 1,679 kilometers (1,039 miles) more to go.

02:19 | Volunteers nationwide continue to carry out social service activities via the “We Do Good with Our Hearts” group to honor the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

04:08 | Deputy Defense Minister General Udomdej Sitabutr has expressed confidence in the security measures put in place ahead of the Cabinet’s visit to Songkla and Pattani later this month. The meeting will hear a report on the ‘Triangle of Security, Prosperity, and Sustainability Model City Project’ prepared by the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Region 4 and the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPAC).

05:33 | Deputy prime minister Dr Wissanu Krea-ngam said he has no objection to the Election Commission’s (ECs) request for the Constitutional Court to review the possibility of organising local elections under the current political setting. He said the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has not yet discussed lifting of the political ban with him.

06:55 | The Constitutional Drafting Commission (CDC) expects to complete two additional draft organic laws by November 28. Additionally, CDC Chairman Meechai Ruchuphan said that all political office holders will still be required to declare their wealth and asset in accordance with the new Constitution.

08:07 | The Justice Reform Committee said it expects it will take five years to complete its goal. The committee has been established to re-enforce the justice system and to ensure equal access to justice for all citizens. Public hearings will be held on November 23 and 24 to hear opinions from the public and related agencies before the final justice reform plan is submitted on December 24.

11:23 | The Royal Irrigation Department (RID) has installed eight more water propelling devices in Tha Chin River in Nakhon Pathom Province in order to accelerate the drainage of excess water into the sea.

To ease the flooding situation 28 water propelling machines are also being deployed in Bang Len district and another 53 in Nakhon Chai Si and Sam Phran districts of Nakhon Pathom.

12:43 | Chief of the Defense Forces, General Thanchaiyan Srisuwan, has delivered his policy speech to the Royal Thai Army (RTA) after assuming his post as Commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters. General Srisuwan expressed his support for the need to protect and honor the monarchy and support royal initiatives and volunteer programs.

13:44 | Finance Minister Apisak Tantivorawong has revealed that the government is planning to introduce a second phase to its low-income support programme, adding career support to services to the state welfare card programme. Mr Tantivorawong said that the second phase will provide occupational support to low-income earners by providing them with additional knowledge and skills to maximise their income.

15:07 | The Pollution Control Department (PCD) has collaborated with the Plastics Institute of Thailand (PITH) to establish a database to manage plastic waste in the country. The new database will help analyse the volume of plastic waste and its various types. According to the director general of the Pollution Control Department (PCD), Sunee Piyapanpong, plastic accounts for 12 per cent of all waste, with only 25 per cent being recycled.

16:17 | The Public Relations Department (PRD) and the Volunteer Society of Thailand (VST) will organise the national Father’s Day 2017 event at the Auditorium Hall of the Royal Thai Navy (RTV) on December 1. This year’s event will feature 379 individuals identified as an exemplary father’s and also honor the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, considered the father of all Thais.

17:58 | The eleven member Council of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) has agreed to establish a database of fishing vessels and a traceability system aimed at tackling illegal fishing in the Asean region. In addition, the Council has agreed to provide training for fisheries observers and establish a system for sharing fishery information among the member countries.

18:57 |  Thailand has hosted The World Bank’s Asean regional purchasing conference aimed at elevating the quality of the region’s procurement industry to international standards. Delegates were told that Thailand’s  new procurement Act, which took effect on August 23rd this year, was written to comply with international standards. It allows for public participation in the procurement process to prevent corruption and is purportedly able to reduce costs by up to 18 per cent.
