Laos and Japan have agreed to continue cooperation in supporting the development of capacity building in the management of Laos’ water supply.

Laos seeks loan for fifth Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge
The design of the fifth Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge across the Mekong River between Borikhamxay province and Bung Karn province in Thailand is now complete, an official in charge has said.
Deputy Director of the Borikhamxay provincial Department of Public Works and Transport, Mr Thone Chanthaminavong, told Vientiane Times on Monday “Now we’re just waiting for funding so the project can go ahead.”

General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachith has lauded the dedication of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military experts to Laos’s national liberation in the past and its current country-building effort.

Laos and China plan to jointly step up their advertising of tourist destinations in a bid to bring more Chinese visitors to Laos and encourage more Lao people to visit China.

Japan funds upgrade of irrigated agriculture in Thangon
The government of Japan has provided grant aid worth over 61 billion kip (837 million yen or about US$7.4 million) to carry out the Improvement of Irrigated Agriculture in Thangon project in Xaythany district, Vientiane.
A grant for the project was signed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday by Deputy Minister Mrs Khamphao Ernthavanh and the Ambassador of Japan to Laos Mr Takeshi Hikihara.

Vientiane authorities are seeking entrepreneurs to invest in and build the planned 15-km expressway linking the city to its north-eastern outskirts in Xaythany district.
