As of 01:47 GMT March 25 there was 4,005 active cases of COVID-19 throughout the 10 Asean member countries, an increase of 313 on the day prior.

Indonesia reported the most number of new COVID-19 cases and deaths over the past 24-hours, with 107 new cases and six deaths driving the total number of active cases to 601 and deaths to 55.

Malaysia and Thailand both recorded 106  fresh cases yesterday, lifting their active caseloads to 1,425 and 771 respectively, with two deaths in Malaysia increasing the number of deaths there to 16, and three deaths in Thailand increasing the dead there to four. Thailand has classified seven of its cases as serious or critical, while Malaysia has 64 such cases.

Ninety new cases in the Philippines and two deaths saw the cumulative totals there increase to 497 active cases and 35 deaths. Singapore recorded 49 new cases yesterday, increasing the number of active cases there to 400, of which 14 are classified as serious or critical.

In Brunei 13 new cases saw its active COVID-19 caseload rise to 102, two of who are classified as serious or critical, while Vietnam yesterday saw its list of active COVID-19 cases climb to 117 with the addition of 11 new cases, with three people listed as serious or critical.

Four fresh cases in Cambodia saw the number of active cases rise to 87, one of who is classified as serious or critical, while two cases in Laos PDR and one in Myanmar saw their active case numbers rice to two and three respectively.

There has now been 4,581 confirmed cases of COVID-19 recorded in Asean member countries, with 464 people, or about 10.13 per cent of all  infections, having been treated and discharged.

One hundred and twelve people have died from COVID-19 in Asean member countries, representing a case mortality rate based on completed cases (number of discharged + number of dead) of 19.44 per cent.

Global COVID-19 cases up to March 25

In the 24-hours to 01:47 GMT March 25 the number of new cases of COVID-19 globally rose 11.55 per cent day-on-day (DoD) to 422,613, an increase of 43,753, another new daily record. It has taken less than three days to record the fourth 100,000 infection.

By comparison it took 67 days from the first COVID-19 case reported to reach 100,000 cases, 11 days for the second 100,000, and just four days for the third 100,000.

The number of deaths globally attributed to COVID-19 in the past 24-hours jumped 14.39 per cent DoD to 18,891, an increase of 2,377, the majority (743) in Italy. China reported 47 new infections and four deaths during the period.

Meanwhile, the number of people treated and discharged globally rose by 6,815, or 6.68 per cent over the day prior to 108,879.

At the current rate there will be/ have been 900,000 cases of COVD-19 by the end of March, and more than 48,000 deaths.

As of 01:47 GMT March 25 there was 294,843 active cases of COVID-19 globally, of which some four per cent, or 13,095 cases were classified as serious or critical.

Based on completed cases (number of discharged + number of dead), the current case mortality rate (CMR) is 15 per cent. On March 15 the CMR was eight per cent.
