01:57 | Deputy Prime Minister for Legal Affairs, Dr Wissanu Krea-ngam, said that although Thailand has given an undertaking to the international human rights committee to abandon the death penalty, it still remained remained as the ultimate form of punishment. Dr Krea-ngam said the government has been considering alternative sentences such as life imprisonment.

03:03 | The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) committee responsible for vetting the draft national strategy law says that it expects it to be submitted to the NLA for its second and third reading on June 22.

04:41 | Hua Hin Municipality is planning the development of a comprehensive city-wide public transportation, with more emphasis on cycling paths and pedestrian walkways.

10:04 | Board of Investment (BoI) has extended its investment support programme for the border economic development zones until the end of 2018 to encourage further investment in border areas. Forty one projects valued at more than Bt8.5 billion (about US$248.9 mil) applied for  investment support in special economic zones (SEZs) across ten provinces between January 2015 and  April 2017.

13:19 | Governor of the Bank of Thailand (BoT), Veerathai Santiprabhob, has explained the importance of the Mekong sub-region as part of the GMS Economic Corridor to attendees of the EuroMoney 2017 Mekong Investment Forum. Mr Santiprabhob said challenges for the region include high border transaction costs, as well as the need to amend trade laws to facilitate better investment activities.
