00:42 | King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has bestowed clothing and accessories on the Army Chief for 117 Royal Guards participating in the ‘We Do Good with Our Hearts’ campaign in honour of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The items included black polo shirts, caps, and scarves.

01:56 | Thai government officials are preparing to make merit on the first anniversary of the death of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej on October 13 at Government House. Alms will be given to 89 Buddhist monks in the morning and prayer chanting dedicated to the late King in the afternoon.

03:28 | Students from colleges of dramatic arts are rehearsing for performances during the royal cremation.

04:16 | The final batch of mourners have paid their last respects to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej with the  Royal Place shutting its doors to the public at 2am to prepare for the royal cremation.

05:09 | Thanachart Bank, in collaboration with Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), has released a collector’s guide to bank notes featuring the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The book compiles all bank notes issued during the reign of King Bhumibol. The book, costing Bt999 (about US$30), can be ordered at Thanachart Bank branches nationwide until November 30.

06:18 | Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has confirmed to Thais living in the United States that a general election will be announced next year and urged Thai people to place their confidence in his administration. The organic laws pertinent to the election should be completed around November next year, he said, after which they will need to be submitted for royal approval for 90 days.

07:43 | The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) has agreed to accept an amended version of draft Act on Organization Assigning Frequency Waves and Supervising Broadcasting and Telecommunications Business Operations. Among the changes is the removal of  the power of the Senate to impeach members of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).

11:05 | The Center for Economic and Business Forecasting (CEBF) of the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) has reported that the Thai consumer confidence index increased from 74.5 in August to 75.0 in September, due to a recovery in exports and a strong tourism sector. CEBF director, Thanawat Pholwichai, said that the Thai economy will likely grow by 3.7-4 per cent this year, higher that the previous forecast of 3.6 per cent.

12:50 | Kasikorn Research Center (KResearch) has forecast that the Thai economy will increase by 3.7 per cent this year due to an estimated 7 per cent grow in the export sector, a recovery in public investment, and private consumption.

14:37 | The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) together with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has launched a sustainable tourism campaign under athe theme “Following the King’s Wisdom for Sustainable Tourism” in four communities. The programme aims at improving local economies through resource conservation, and the conservation of local livelihood and traditions.
