00:41 | Thais from across the country continued to gather at the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall in the Grand Palace to pay their respect to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. In addition, sandalwood flowers continue to be produced nationwide for the royal cremation ceremony in October.

03:01 | The National Council of Women of Thailand (NCWT) and Dhanarak Asset Development have organised a flower-making workshops aimed at producing 1,089 flowers in the shape of daffodils, roses, orchids, and cape jasmine for the royal cremation. An exhibition was also held to explain the duties and responsibilities of the Office of the Ombudsman under the new Constitution.

04:06 | Thais across the country are participating in various activities to celebrate King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun’s birthday.

06:29 | Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has chaired a meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) to approve the appointment of a new secretary-general. The new secretary-general’s name was not announced.

07:40 | Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam has delivered a lecture on  state administration organised by the Councilor of State. Attendees heard of methods and processes necessary to ensure good governance by administrative bodies.

08:33 | The Office of Ombudsmen has ended its investigation on the submarine deal between the Royal Thai Navy (RTN) and China and has concluded that the purchase of the submarine will not present any burden to the country.

12:36 | The Ministry of Industry (MoI) has organised the annual Thailand Industry Expo 2017 exhibition with the theme ‘Industry 4.0 One Transformation, Thousand Opportunities’ aimed at promoting Thai SMEs and startups.

Running until July 30, some 300,000 people are expected to attend the expo, which has attracted more than 1,500 startups and SMEs showcasing their products. The expo is expected to generate some Bt500 million (about $15 million) in revenue.

15:14 | The Department of Industrial Promotion (DIP) has  announced the winners of the third annual Fashion Designer Creation 2017 (FDC 2017) competition that saw more than 130 local and international designers participate.

16:26 | Dr David Ruffolo, a professor from Mahidol University, has won the 2017 Outstanding Scientist award from the Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Technology under royal patronage.

17:48 | NBT World today takes a look at the water management in Lancang river basin in the upper stream of the Mekong River and the importance of cooperation between five Asean countries and China.
