00:38 | Thais from across the country continue visiting the Grand Palace to pay their respects to the late king Bhumibol Adulyadej.

02:03 | In preparation for the royal cremation of the late king Bhumibol Adulyadej, Trat Hospital have held a sandalwood flower making session. In addition, Mae Hong Son Community College held a similar training session which saw a total of 500 flowers being produced.

03:13 | Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister, General Prawit Wongsuwan, has ordered all relevant agencies under the Defense Council to jointly organise a birthday celebration for King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun on July 28. The meeting also discussed additional reform of the Ministry of Defense aimed at reducing high ranking officers at a rate of 2.5 per cent every year until 2028.

05:25 | Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister, General Prawit Wongsuwan, said yesterday that the military had not discussed the looming annual military reshuffle. He also added that the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) is working along the election roadmap. General Wongsuwan said he had no intention of forming a political party to contest the elections, but added he could not speak for the Prime Minister’s intentions.

06:14 | The National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA) has approved a proposal to reform tertiary education that includes setting up a separate tertiary education ministry away from the management of the education ministry. The reform process will be divided into two phases.

07:24 | The Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) is ready to review the primary vote system. Chairman of the CDC, Meechai Ruchupan, pointed out that all points related to the primary vote system will be investigated.

09:10 | The Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the State Enterprise Policy Office (SEPO) have hosted a seminar to raise awareness on how state enterprise policy coincides with the country’s national strategy. According to Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, state enterprise industry generates over Bt100 billion (about US$2.946 billion) in annual revenue.

12:06 | The Ministry of Commerce (MoC) and community enterprises have organised the “E-san Expo 2017” exhibition at Impact Muang Thong Thani until July 2 featuring products and services from the upper northeastern provinces as part of the country’s grassroots economy policy. The exhibition aims at expanding markets for local products and negotiating new business deals.

13:34 | The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), together with the World Health Organization (WHO), has organised the Joint External Evaluation of International Health Regulations (IHR) core capacity in Thailand to evaluate the country’s health security system.

16:31 | The Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO) and the Economic Research Institute for Asean and East Asia (ERIA) have held a seminar to build public confidence in coal based power. Energy experts from Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Japan agree that the use of coal is dictated by three factors –  cost, environmental impact, and energy security.
